Treasure Hunt Confrontation Tuesday, 10 June 2008 There was more drama Tuesday morning in the ongoing legal battle between Belgian businessman Stephan Vercruysse and his wife Janice Sutherland for control of the Treasure Hunt casino in New Kingston. Just days after Mrs. Sutherland Vercruysse reportedly took control of the gaming lounge, Kingfish police personnel, backed by security guards from King Alarm reportedly took back control of the property. They were reportedly accompanied by Mr. Vercruysse, armed with a court order granted by Supreme Court judge, Mr. Justice Pusey. The court order prohibits Mrs. Sutherland Vercruysse from coming within one hundred yards of the casino on Trinidad Terrace and the Ocho Rios branch. The Court order also prohibits Mrs. Sutherland Vercruysse from transacting any business on behalf of the company within the next 28 days. Today's court order stemmed from a nasty divorce battle between the Vercruysses. There was drama two weeks ago when Mrs. Sutherland Vercruysse, backed by private security guards, took control of the Casino. PNP activist Paul Burke who owns a private security company and retired Senior Superintendent Reneto Adams who also owns a private security firm were reportedly hired by Mrs. Sutherland Vercruysse to provide security services. Mr. Vercruysse, who was reportedly barred from entering the business place, reported the matter to the Police High Command. He alleges that more than a million dollars was defrauded from his business during the hostile take-over. Deputy Commissioner of Police Mark Shields told the RJR News Centre this afternoon that the allegations are being investigated by the police.
